Well...
I can't help but say I don't think insomnia or hypersomnia would be a great thing to have. Since I developed insomnia over the last 18 months, I have amassed numerous other problems that make working and even days off a veritable nightmare. Not only have I lost most of my identity and friends, but I deal with constant back, neck and head stress, deteriorating sleep as time goes by--never able to sleep without pills and never "napping", and being miserable because of things your probably experiencing too, like not being able to find an answer and the majority of people not being able to comprehend what my problem is.
But I'm not giving up and neither should you because there is something causing the problem and there has to be a root to get to. My girlfriend's friend's boyfriend (whew!) had to sleep all the time and got it fixed with an antidepressant. Maybe trying a psychologist (that's what he did and got tested in-lab for like three days) might help from a different perspective. Also, allergies (food), sleep apnea, all the things the other responder mentioned, and even possibly spiritual or emotional problems (like having hate or unforgiveness toward yourself or someone else) could be the problem. I hope this doesn't sound corny, but my friend who developed insomnia for a few months went to a church service and got prayed for then slept like he never had a probelem from that night 'til now (happened a couple of months ago), so you never know. It might be worth seeing if your doctor can refer you for even more testing. Might as well... at least you can make sure nothing else is wrong that way!!!
Thanks, and God be with you,
Leonard
