If you have been off Ambian a good while all you need is a 10 mg ambian. Better yet, cut it in half and take the other half when you wake up (after the first dose wears off)

The drugs are totally unrealated and together they wouldn't do anything bad. A single dose of Elivil is nearly useless for sleep, (the anti-depresant sized dose is about 200mg) but it builds up a serum level over a few months time which is what helps you sleep.

For me the side effects of Elivil were far worse then not sleeping. Glad it works for you.
