Hi Tom,
I feel for you, honestly. I am 25 and have had insomnia for about 5 years. IT IS HELL!!( Not to sound discouraging.) I don't know if I can supply answers, but I remember when I wrote a posting many months ago and nobody even bothered to respond, I felt hopeless and deflated. Maybe you're different. Anyway, I, too am extremely sensitive to noise. It's like as soon as I lay down I can hear everything, even it seems, the blood pumping through my veins. Have you ever tried taking any medications? Not that I can recommend any prescriptions, but I take Benadryl (a.k.a. diphenhydramine) this active ingredient is found in many over the counter sleep aids as well as many antihistamines, which it actually is. I have tried many prescription sleep meds, but have found diphenhydramine the mildest and most effective.

Sorry for the lengthy note. Back to the noise thing....I'm thinking....I'm thinking that perhaps you have too much adrenaline happening. Do you keep a journal? Are there any days you notice this "hypersensitivity" being exaggerated? Do you eat alot of refined foods, sugar, or caffeine?

Just a few things to think about. I wish you good luck. Write another posting if you want.
