Thanks for your response. I definitely relate to some of the sleep hygiene and restriction measures adding to your anxiety. I feel that, too, although the last couple of nights have been better for me so that I did not need to get out of bed. The more good nights I have, the less anxious I feel and the more faith I have to keep going. I am not following the suggestions to the letter but doing some things that reduce the anxiety for me. I'm allowing myself to read in bed because it has always helped me get to sleep and I am also allowing myself to use medication for an occasional night if I don't sleep well for 2-3 nights. I did that a few nights ago and it helped a lot. I then had a couple of pretty good nights after that so it doesn't seem to have had a real negative effect on the process. As Beth said, I found getting up and walking to other rooms during the night was not helpful so I moved an armchair into my bedroom which, when I sit and read in it, feels a lot closer to being in bed.
