I don't think you can get PHYSICALLY hooked on OTC sleep aids. But you can get PSYCHOLOGICALLY hooked on anything, including cheeseburgers, football or pornography.

My experience with OTC sleep meds is that they're a total ripoff and a waste of money. The government won't let them put any strong ingredients in stuff sold without a prescription. All of them are basically antihistimines. Drowsiness is but a side effect of antihistimines, and the marketing whizes at Sominex, Sleep Eze, etc., capitalized on it. There is no need for anyone to take an antihistimine unless they have a cold.
