Hi David,

As you 'stabilize' at a particular dose, does your sleep improve? Do you anticipate that the 4-6 hours on 17.5 mg will eventually become more like 7 hrs before you make your next cut?

p>Over this last drop down to .25 mg clonazepam, I ended up drinking a bit more than my usual 1-2 beers with dinner, because this weekend I celebrated my 36th birthday! Alcohol effects during a dose cut are pretty interesting -- while alcohol certainly lessens that twinge of withdrawal anxiety in the evening, it has somewhat negative effects on sleep that night. I don't feel a particular urge to indulge myself any more than usual during a dose cut since these contrasting effects somewhat negate each other.

Last night was my fourth night on .25 mg and despite the bedroom being warm, my husband being restless, and one of our cats meowing to get his little head scratched, I got back to sleep quickly after each wakeup, feel great this morning, and I probably got over 7 hrs sleep (which is PLENTY for me).

On my higher doses I was sometimes sleeping 8.5 hrs or so, which felt AWESOME, but also was perhaps a bit much.

Once again, I will give some of the credit to my so far successful taper to a) Paxil and b) melatonin.

Another thing that helps is if I have a semi-rough night into a dose cut, I tell myself that if my night is REALLY rough, then I'll just take a little more the next night and postpone the next stage of my taper. Inevitably, this internal bargaining results in my NOT having a really rough night and so there is no need to take more. Only once did I need to follow through on my promise to myself.

A.N.
