While it may not be the best idea to use OTC's every night, Sometimes when you need sleep, they do work. Why discount something that may work for someone else simply because it did not work for you? True, it doesn't always work, but it was in factrecommended to me by an M.D. and I have found it a far better alternative personally to taking sleeping meds. In addition, there are generic versions of Benadryl (diphenhydramine) which is also the active ingredient in almost every one of those OTC sleep meds.
