DreaM, The title of your post and some of the comments jumped out at me today. One thing that would be helpful to work on is changing your attitude about insomnia. I know it's hard, and we all tend to feel we are about to die from the misery while going through it, but changing our language and thoughts while describing it can help calm you down. You say you had a "six week bout of total insomnia." I don't think that is humanly possible, if you mean that you didn't sleep a wink in six weeks. Later you mention that it's been 2 weeks since you've "slept at all". I know some people go several days without any sleep, and I don't doubt the severity of your problem, but you must have slept an hour or two here and there in those two weeks. Those kind of statements are what you are telling yourself in your head, and they only make the anxiety worse.
I've seen other posts on this forum in which people compare the severity of their insomnia, and feel that their own case is too severe to be helped by any means. I know there are people who had worse cases than I, and I've read some success stories of people who improved after suffering for many years. So I don't think anyone should give up hope, and I also believe if an insomniac really wants to get better, they will be willing to try many methods.
Hang in there. There is a lot of good information on this board and a lot of support when you need it. I would recommend reading Dr. Greg Jacobs' "Say Goodnight to Insomnia" for getting help with negative sleep thoughts. I know it's really tough to change the way you think, but it's one of the keys to getting better.
