Jason,
When I was first diagnosed with narcolepsy my freshman year in college {and what a great time to get diagnosed with it - everyone just thought I had mono!}, the doctor put me on Ritalin. I was jumpy and felt like I was on speed. A co-worker in college who also had narcolepsy {no it wasn't a prerequisite for the job} told me he had been on Ritalin and that it effected him the same way. He told me that it was incredibly addictive and that he had to be put in the hospital for withdrawal when he wanted to go off it. This, of course, freaked me out. When I went home, I told the doctor I didn't want to be on this stuff that made me so edgy and fidgety and to find something else. He put me on Cylert and I've been on it now for 14 years. I don't have the "JOLT" that I used to feel after I took the Ritalin. It was horrible for me. Don't give up on finding a suitable medication and dosage for yourself. You deserve it and your wife does too.
