Went to MD, he doesn't believe in N!

Posted by ExhaustedMom on November 30, 2000 at 16:43:34:

Hi to all. I wrote back a few days ago, and I went to the primary MD for a referral for the sleep study indicative of narcolepsy, but the priamry MD told me he's not even sure that N exists! I was so mad! He feels I'm depressed, and gave me a script for Prozac, which, hey, I'll try, but he really didn't support the following up of the narcolepsy! He feels that sleep MD's just think everything is caused by crummy sleep, and that it's all bull*&%$, but the more I read all the forums, the more I feel that this can't be a whole group of exhausted, depressed moms. I think I'm going to call the sleep MD on my own, and see what he thinks about my test results. Anyone else have an unsupportive, non-believing MD at first? What did you do? Does Prozac help with anything related to N, or just he just think I'm nuts? Help! I was hoping for a normal life, but instead, I just feel like no one is taking me seriously! Please give advice. Thanks!
