Prozac and N

My neurologist prescribed Prozac for EDS. I have severe cataplexy and am taking 100mg of Tofranil@pm to help control it. The side effects of the Tofranil aren't worth mentioning (that is if you compare it hitting the floor twice a day at work) but the side effects caused by the Prozac were not acceptable at all. My stomach was always bloated and I had acid reflux for than I would care to mention....I stopped taking it after 3 weeks.
However, I did find that in conjunction with the Tofranil, I had NO cataplexy symptons what so ever. With the Tofranil alone I still get a little weak in the knees. Prozac did not help with my EDS at all and I am now trying Provigil (my first dose was this morning). I am hoping that the two drugs combined will knock out the cataplexy as with the Prozac. So far my only side effects have been a mild headache and a ringing in my ears...tolerable.
As far as your MD is concerned...obviously he doesn't have your best interest at heart. My MD immediately pegged it as N when I went to him and said that I was falling down when ever I laughed or got mad. I never liked him much before that but now he is my savior in a way and I respect him much more than I could imagine.
My first neurologist's first words to me on every visit were, "you don't have narolepsy". Yet he proceeded to treat me for it....then he prescribed a class C4 restricted tranquilizer for my HH on top of the Tofranil. I almost literally ran from his office. By the way, he was also the Dr. that told me that I had an "old" brain. That's when I learned to make sure that the Dr. was board certified in neurology...there are alot of quacks out there.
Good luck to you and remember that every individual has different reactions to different drugs. What doesn't work for someone else may work for you.
P.S. I have 2 Christmas trees also :-)
HAPPY HOLIDAYS TO YOU ALL!!!!
