snapping out of Sleep Paralysis

Posted by ulysses on December 02, 2000 at 19:08:09:

I'm a college student and was diagnosed with Narcolepsy about a year ago. I get by EDS with 200mg of provigil, and i have not had any cataplexy. However, i have severe sleep paralysis and the entertaining hallucinations that go along with it. i would say i get SP 2 nights out of 3, and usually multiple times. I find that if i sleep in any position other than on my left side, i always get SP. sometimes i get SP 4-5 times before i finally get to sleep. Ive never read about anyone having SP this often, and i was wondering if anyone knows of ways to prevent/lessen SP (other than drugs, tried them, didnt work)
and also how to bring yourself out of SP. i can actually open my eyes(only to see hallucinations) and slightly move my arms without coming out, and it seems to be getting more difficult. any suggestions would be appreciated.
