I am currently trying Concerta also. The Ritalin SR 20mg only lasted about 4-6 hours for me and the 'drop off' phase was so abrupt. I have a hard time waking up and found that the Concerta 18mg took about 4 hours to kick in to the point that I felt awake. Then, it would last about 8 hours (12 hours total from the time I ingested it). It does not have that quick drop off phase, and very few (if any) side effects. The problem I am having now is that after about a month of 18mg, I am finding that I am not as awake as I used to be. Today I am trying 36mg to see if there is a better effect.

I have tried Provigil, Dexedrine, Adderall, and Ritalin. All (except Ritalin) caused terrible side effects but the Ritalin just dropped off so quick for me and made me feel terrible. This was my reason for trying Concerta.

HTH.
