Lorna,I read your response several times and agree that acceptance is vital while attempting to hold on to any remaining semblance of a normal life.I feel that my acceptance has given me the advantage of preparing for what's to come.I could probaly bore you to sleep with the reasons we should look ahead and provide a cushion that we can depend on to help us get through life when the quest for normal is over as mine is now.Yes,having Narcolespy/Cataplexy has taught me things about life that otherwise I might not of expeienced and some I wish I never did, like standing in line at the grocery store and realize you have a leaking illostomy bag staining your Levi's,shoes and the store floor, people can be cruel!Imagine trying to control Cataplexy in that situation! The A.D.A.(American's with Disabilites Act) destroyed any chance I had at remaining gainfully employed.Few people realize that corperate America
has choose to rid itself of ill people especialy if there is a chance they must make accommadations that won't sit well with healthy co-workers.I'm sure there is the ocassional exception, but I definity know it's the way of the futher concerning employment.I had 26years with a Fortune 2OO Company with a ranking in the top 50.When the attornys figured out what was not in the A.D.A.it wasn't long to see the results. My unwilling ways kept me employed longer than most and i actually found that dealing with low level goverment employees assigned to help you keep your job were harder to deal with than the corperate attorneys i was up against.Anyways when the walls started caving in my goals changed to securing something for the futher. sorry about ramblin on ...time to nap...rip
