Gordon,
I would suggest that you do go forward with testing for Narcolepsy based on what you have described in your posting. You did however make a statement which I believe you do not really know the answer is correct.

You state that you have nevever had a "full Narcoleptic" attack. I must tell you that if in fact you do have one the only way you will know is if there is something to identify the fact that you were asleep. Once I was diagnosed and understood what was happening it answered many questions which had been on my mind. It answered the question of why I could be watching Tv and not remember the ending of a movie.

When we go into a Narcoleptic sleep and then wake up it is like we have not been asleep and there is a missing period of time. Please understand that you could in fact be going to sleep but not realize it unless something happens. For me it was the fact that I fell asleep in the middle of a sentence while talking with a group of friends. That convinced me that I should see a Dr. about the problems I had been having. Up to that time I thought that it was all related to all of the stress in my life.

It is my opinion that it would be better to have the test and know for certain one way or the other. With a good Dr. and proper medication we can lead a much better life than without it.

Best of luck in your search.

Earl
