Lorna,

I wish you the best of luck in your testing. I have at one time or another taken Ritalin, Cylert and Provignil for Narcolepsy. While they have all worked I am most pleased with Provignil and how I feel when taking it.

With both Ritalin and Cylert I would suffer a tremendous crash at the end of each day as the drug wore off. My Dr. also demanded that I only take these drugs 5 days a week to try and relieve the chance of addiction. With Provgnil I do not suffer the daily crash and my Dr. has okayed my taking it 7 days a week. Occassionally I will take a drug holiday over a weekend just to let the Narcolepsy run its course.

The only side affects I have noticed have been a dry mouth and the strong smelling urine. Considering the fact that it lets me lead a somewhat normal life I can certainly put up with these. I just try to make sure that I always have something to drink close by or at least a piece of gum to keep my mouth moist.

As you will notice from reading postings here Provignil does not work well for everyone but I consider myself very blessed to be one of those it does help.

Good luck in your journey and remember that there are many of us out here and are always willing to share and make your journey easier.

Earl
