In general, I think that therapy can be wonderful in that it helps us to look at our beahviour, attitudes, etc. I have been to therapy a few times for various things and it almost always helped. The onlt time I had a less than stellar experience was when I went after I was diagnosed with N. I found that my therapist did not understand and it was obvious in her body language and in her responses. My advice is this: 1. bring a short page on N (from this site) to give to your therapist and 2. try to go in on the basis that s/he will probably NOT understand the condition but that s/he can instead guide you to understand yourself and how you cope better. I know that this is easier said than done however because I think that most of us feel so frustrated that no one around us understands.

Hope this helps,
Canine.
