Zoloft takes at least 4 weeks to take effect; therefore it could not have been the cause of your wife's thoughts. Likely, it was the original depression manifesting itself during this "gap" between meds since she had been weaned off the Wellbutrin and the Zoloft had not yet kicked in. As well, in all of my readings, I have never seen the "known effect" that you mention re: the SSRI's. As well, we must not generalize and lump all SSRI drugs together. Obviously, they are all different in their make-up, even if in the same class, or we would only have one SSRI brand to choose from and not as many as we do.
