Found in REUTERS MEDICAL NEWS -Fev.26
"...according to a report in the Febrary issue of the Annals of Emergency Medecine (2001;37:147-153)
...on 8 patients who underwent GHB withdrawal after severe GHB dependence...GHB withdrawal syndrome is severe and life threatening.
As withdrawal progressed the patients became psychotic and severely agitated and had to be restrained and sedated...During the course of withdrawal they had mild tachycardia, hypertension,...auditory and visuals hallucinations..."
With such a report, I can easily understand why FDA cancelled review of NDA for XYREM.
It is time to make a difference between addicted people overusing GHB and narcoleptics who need this drug and normally use it.
