my sleep study concluded more alpha (awake waves) during the night study than during the daytime study. i was diagnosed as insomniac/narcoleptic.
the question was posed...do you want to be medicated to sleep at night or be alert in the daytime? my response was: i want it all....
i want to be medicated in order to live my life in as normal a fashion as someone who has neither disorder. my sleep specialist is a unique, supportive physician who has accomplished accomodating me. i now get a full eight hours of sleep at night and feel rested when i wake and i have been able to decrease my stimulant medication during the day and completely discontinue my night time medication to help me sleep...i have now taken control of narcolepsy instead of having it control me. now instead of me dealing with narcolepsy, it has to deal with me!
