Help! what to do????

Posted by Leah on May 16, 2001 at 22:09:26:

ok, I will try my best to make this as short as posible. I have not officialy been diagnosed with N. My doc (psychiatrist) started me on provigil about 4 months ago because I was falling asleep while driving. She just said it was for excessive daytime sleepiness. I didn't even know it was a med for people with N. until I got the prescription filled. She started me off on 400 mg. But it was causing me to shake real bad so she lowered it to 200. The past month or so, things have gotten worse! About 2 weeks ago I uped the provigil back up to 400 as a desperate attempt to make things better. Things have only gotten worse. I have started falling asleep at work, anywhere, at any time. I have fallen asleep standing up, while walking, you name it! I have been trying to reach my doc for 3 days, she finally called back, and left a message on my maschine. She just said that I needed to up the provigil (already done that) and that if that didn't work, she would call in another perscription. A perscription for what!? She has yet to give me an up front reason to what is going on with me. except for excessive daytime sleepiness. I know that it is more than that, especially after the research online I have done on N. I fit almost all of the symptoms. But my doc hasn;t ever used the word narcolepsy, she hasn't asked me questions about the other symptoms. SHe dosn't realy seem to be that concerned. She has not suggested further testing to make sure. WHAT DO I DO? Im scared. Im worried, Im frustrated, and it seemes to get worse EVERY DAY! I am going to lose my job if somthing isn't done very soon! HELP!
