Hi!!
So sorry if the post is a bit brief, I have been terribly busy lately, but I want to make sure I try to answer everyone, and in a timely fashion. Were you on any drugs for depression before, or did your doctor try you on the Serzone straight away?
Serzone (Nefazodone) is an antidepressant for oral administration with a chemical structure unrelated to Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitors, tetracyclics, or Monoamine Oxidase Inhibitors (MAOI) drugs such as Nardil. It was approved by the FDA in…I think 1994, could be 95 though, as a novel treatment for depressive illness.
I have honestly only made perhaps 2 prescriptions for this medication since it was introduced. Most of my patients have had good luck with one of the three SSRI medicines. Either Lustral (sertraline), Seroxat (paroxetine) or Prozac (fluoxetine). I believe Lustral is called Zoloft in the US and Canada, and Seroxat is Paxil over there (I am in the UK mind)With those few prescriptions I did write, the patients complained of "out of body" feelings, dizziness, nausea, vomiting, etc. So we switched to other things. Were you on Xanax for anxiety? I know lots of times Narcoleptics can have some pretty big problems with Anxiety, just like many other people in the population. But almost all of the anxiety medicines are designed to do the opposite of the N medications (stimulants). It can be a vicious circle So, are you still feeling depressed? Wellbutrin had a good report on it in an article for doctors dealing with depression…I read it just a bit ago.
I hope things are going OK, and let me know if I can be of any further help (if indeed I have been any at all!!!)
