Suspected Narcolepsy

Posted by Louise on May 18, 2001 at 06:58:16:

Hey you guys, I hope you can help me.
I have been falling asleep for about 15 years, first of all at school, and now at work. Comes on like a wave, which I can shake not even by running around and doing star jumps. Believe me, i've tried. I sleep standing up, have done driving, talking, you name it. I guess you can relate. I sleep badly at night - why is it I can sleep all day, but not a 2am, when I want to? I get abit of the cataplexy thing, I think, occaisionally when laughing. Feel limp like a rag doll for about 10 seconds. Does this sound familiar?
Am seeing a neurologist on Friday, what do I need to ask? Which are the best medications? I'm in London, is anyone else here? Basically I really need experienced information, as, although the doctor I have now is willing to look into what I suspect, ones in the past had me down as depressed! I really have NOT been depressed for most of my adult life! Let me know what you think.
