I too sometimes slur my speech or stutter. I think that it is related to cataplexy (even though I only have partial cataplexy). I often mix up words and will often call a lawnmower a dryer or a hedge a shed or a hammer a banana. I get a lot of "stopping" moments (like when I am about to ask a question and forget it or when I lose my keys for the hundreth time in one day) and I think that they are due to the fatigue of N and/or to the medications, and due to my very bad AB. I figure that these moments are tied into the AB somehow and to REM intrusion during the day but am not sure how. My Dad also does this strange word mix up and I am sure that he has (undiagnosed) N as well. Like you, all my bad genes came from my Dad! As for the mixed up words, I just try to make light of them and hope that their strangeness and humor put a smile on someone's face.

Hope this helps,
Canine.
