NARCOLEPSY AND PREGNANCY

Posted by Sleepy in Ohio on August 13, 2001 at 21:20:42:

I am currently 3-1/2 months pregnant and was diagnosed with narcolepsy approximately 4 yrs ago. I've been on every med and med combination out there with Dexedrine being the only thing that has ever worked. I did go through a full-term pregnancy two years ago on Dexedrine without a hitch ... thank the Good Lord above, my baby was born perfect and to date, we've NOT encountered any problems or defects (nor any developmental difficulties). However, my new neurologist believes 200% that there are no meds I can take with relative safety for the duration of the pregnancy; the consequence, I stay in bed in a coma-like state for the next six months. Does anyone have any type of data, info, articles, ANYTHING to document any kind of case history, etc. that I might use to persuade my doctor to prescribe a "minimal" amt of meds in order to maintain some type of "quality of life" for interaction with the rest of my family? Thank you for any responses.
