Don't want to preach- but excessive alcohol and smoking aren't good - N or no. Also, if you're on the anphetimine meds (Ritalin, Aderall, Dexadrine) then the smoking in particular is quite bad as the two together (or separately) can elevate your heart rate. As for Provigil, they don't know its affects yet when combined with alcohol.

Ok, done preaching. I had been a soda junkie and also took Vivarin to keep the sleepies at bay. I thought that it worked a little, but the headaches that came if I didn't have enough caffeine finally drove me to quit. Now I don't have any caffeine at all (maybe a hot chocolate now and then) and I feel so much better. (still have N, just got rid of the headaches and acid stomach) I spoke with my mother- a former coffee junkie- and she said that she had quit too, that she kept drinking more and more coffee and getting sleepier. Perhaps we just have weird genes. :)
