This is straight from the sample pack insert:
PROVIGIL (modafinil) is a wakefulness-promoting agent for oral administration. Modafinil is a reacemic compound. The chemical name for modafinil is 2-[(diphenylmethyl) sulfinyl] acetamide. PROVIGIL tablets contain 100 mg or 200 mg of modafinil and the following inactive ingredients: lactose, corn startch, magnesium silicate, croscarmellose sodium, povidone, magnesium stearate, and talc. The precies mechanism(s) through which modafinil promotes wakefulness is unknown. Modafinil has wake-promoting actions like sympathomimetic agents including amphetamine and methylphenidate, although the pharmacologic profile is not identical to that of sympathomimetic amines.
It goes on for awhile talking about what modafinil does not do/does not bind to etc.
Hope this helps.
