Brand new to Provigil- lots of questions

Posted by ExhaustedMom on October 05, 2001 at 13:41:18:

I'd really appreciate it if anyone wants to answer a few questions for me. Just started 200mg Provigil this week Tuesday. Worked well during the day, but did have a noticeable headache and dry mouth. No problem, I'd rather be awake and thirsty than asleep. Also, I've noticed that I get the usual lull in the afternoon, but seem to catch a second wind- is that me or the Provigil? My MD said he'd increase the Provigil dosage after 1 month on the 200, will that help the afternoon lull? About how long does the med work for you? Like, an 8 hr window, or longer, or shorter? And, this is weird, but I have noticed the past few days that my arms feel weird, not tingling like they're asleep, but very faint tingly feeling. I was warned by the sleep MD that I may very well feel great and not to burn the candle at both ends, because many N pts don't know what to do after they find that awake state. I have not had any cataplexy ever, to my knowledge, but has anyone ever gotten to the point of having it after they are being seen for the N? The sleep MD warned me that my symptoms may progress over time, but I have read that some people dx'd with N never have the cataplexy. Also, I was out shopping for groceries with the 3 yr old, and I all of a sudden felt really spacy, but aware. Hard to explain. Have no appetite on this stuff- yahoo!!! because this may have contributed to my 40 pound wt gain over the past 7 years. But, does this feeling have anything to do with the Provigil? Any better luck with other meds? I have asthma, and I think the MD is trying to find something that doesn't string me out, because I'm on Theophylline, too. Whew. Sorry, but there's no one else that I can ask about this, and I appreciate anyone who can answer a question or 2 (or all of them!) for me. Thankzzzzzzzzz!!!!!
