PROVIGIL AND APPETITE - NEED HELP!!!

Posted by Jayde on October 06, 2001 at 12:50:42:

I am newly diagnosed (June 2001) and I too have been taking Provigil. However, reading ExhaustedMom's post "Brand New to Provigil - lots of questions" raised a few questions for ME. Ok, here we go :)
HERE IS THE MILLION $$$ QUESTION: :)WITH THE HIGHER DOSES OF PROVIGIL WHAT IS APPITITE LIKE???? (see below for explanation of my circumstances)
In July I had the gastric by-pass done b/c I was 100+lbs overweight etc (prior to diagnosis - I functioned enough to live some resemblance of a normal life - but I was too tired to exercise and too tired to cook right..and so on). I have lost 68lbs so far.
I have been on Provigil since June and recently asked M.D. to increase it by 100mg to total of 300mg b/c it didn't quite work enough at lower dose. M.D. ok'd this.
For the past two weeks I have been under extreme stress and hardly have eaten anything (even with the gastric I had two to three "mini" meals/day w/ nutritional snacks in between). I have lost almost 10 lbs in two weeks.
The stress seems to have exacerbated the N, therefore needed to increase Provigil; Provigil in combonation with the stress has decreased my appetite (more than it already was).
Never thought I'd worry about not eating enough but I can't afford not to eat now. Every bite has become nutritionally important - literally. I need Provigil to stay awake, but if I don't eat - I'm really going to be in trouble.

ANY RESPONSE IS GREATLY APPRECIATED

Jayde
