I have similar troubles associated with my narcolepsy. I feel as though words are separated from their corresponding thoughts. Sometimes even simple words are difficult to remember. At times, I also "lose" thoughts as I begin to verbalize them and end up saying something that may or may not make sense but is not the thought I began with. Sometimes I recall the original ending afterwards, and sometimes it is vague.
I study and practice reading and writing in an effort to maximize my abilities and develop a productive (at home) career, during my waking time.
I would be interested in hearing more about your experience and coping mechanisms.
