I have both, unfortunately. I am on theophylline 400mg/day, long acting formula, as well as Advair inhaler, and albuterol inhaler, prn. I was just recently started on Provigil, when my dx was confirmed with the MSLT. As for the bladder thing- I am on the theophylline, which has a tendency to make you have to go more often, and I've had 3 kids, so the bladder just isn't the same anymore, plus with the stimulating effect the Provigil has, I'm taking stock in the Kleenex double roll toilet paper! My sleep MD told me he'd rather try me out on the Provigil, because of the Theophylline, he said the other options as far as meds would take a lot of coordinating around the other meds. But, he didn't rule out Ritalin, etc. Just not wanting to try them first. I haven't even checked into alt treatments for the asthma, finally can breathe after 3 years of finding a regiment that works. I also get 3 allergy shots a week, as my asthma is triggered by my allergies. Plus, I'm on sinus meds, to boot. All this was checked into by my sleep MD prior to starting the Provigil, so I feel very comfortable taking it. I am starting to feel like a walking pharmacy at the ripe old age of 30, I'm on 8 different scripts- more than some of my patients(I'm a nurse.). So, discuss your options with the sleep MD, who will help coordinate the N meds around what other stuff you need to be on. What are you taking for the N?
