Narcolepsy & micro-autoimmune disorder

Posted by Barry on October 08, 2001 at 04:52:28:

I also have nacolepsy with asthma, but without cataplexy. A good hypothesis indicate that therer is a likely link between the cause of narcolepsy and micro-autoimmune reaction in narcoleptic patient's brain. In other word, regulation of sleep-wake cycle including states boundary control maybe links to the function of immune molecules in the region that trigger (REM)sleep or wake.
If the function of the molecules are abnormal or sometimes the relevant cells abruptly lose activation, REM sleep will fire at inappropriate time or impaired wake-up state occurs. It means that sleep&wake states are fragmented.
