Well, I got my results today. Idiopathic Hyperinsomnolence. Out of 4 naps on the MSLT I went to sleep 2 times at 5.2 minutes and 2 times at 7.5 minutes, with no evidence of REM sleep. During the overnight, I had no abnormal REM. He said that it is very uncommon for one who had just slept for 8 good hours to go to sleeep so quickly, and prescribed Provigil. I am starting at 100 mg 1X per day. My insurance did pay 75% of the cost associated with a 30 day supply. I still think I have N. After 40 or more years, I should know my body. I know no more than I did before I took the test, too sleepy, and we don't know why. At least I have a prescription to see if that will help.

Anyone out there with this problem? If so, please reply. Of course, I would sleep all night at the hospital, since I never do at home. That makes perfect sense, and of course, no REM, but what about the meeting when I dreamed that awards were being given out, flowers, and that I had just heard my name called. Good thing I didn't get up and go down front. Good luck to all of you. If anyone else has this DX please let me know.
