Going crazy - Anyone want to come???

Posted by Jayde on October 10, 2001 at 22:33:42:

Morning Everyone:

I hope all is well for "ya'll" :) I am in need of some advice - and judging from responses to my past posts - this is a good place to look.

Little History: Diagnosed in June 2001. Taking Provigil 200mg every day (may increase to 300mg as needed). College Student & Single Parent (quit working two weeks ago).

As was suggested by the response to my last post, I advised all of my instructors of my condition. I gave a brief synopsis of narcolepsy - promising a more detailed report later.

Here is the problem: I am FALLING apart. Obviously, narcolepsy is new for me - or at least being conscious of it is. So, here's the sob story: I am stressed b/c of school --> that increases my EDS etc. --> I increase the Provigil --> higher dose = headaches --> not able to do assignments due to EDS and headaches....etc, etc, etc.

I go to my professors and talk to them but there is only so long they are going to be lienient (sp) with me. Prior to this I was towards the top of all of my classes; I had a high G.P.A.; I thrived on order and control; I took pride in my accomplishments (a true perfectionist @ heart). Now, I can't even get a simple assignment in on time and the big one is READING. That is almost a joke. Oh, and that detailed report on narcolepsy - not done yet.

This is challenging every fiber of my being b/c I can't control it - and I haven't adapted to it yet. I haven't learned how to cope and I just don't know where to turn next.

I know this sounds like "such a sad story" but no one on this end understands. Any response is greatly appreciated.

Thank You,
Jayde
