Posted by Carol Sue on December 29, 2001 at 12:47:00:I take one 10 mg. Dexedrine Spansule and one Wellbutrin 150 mg. SR per day. Every day is a struggle and I drink lots of coffee in order to be able to drive etc. Any more dexedrine just makes me way too anxious/jumpy/nervous/irritable/angry/ without any improvement in wakefulness. I've been on all of the other available medications and none work as well for me.
I still experience a lot more anxiety/irritability than I had realized from time to time. It happens expecially when I am overly tired/sleepy/confused from pushing myself to do any more than just the very very bare necessities.
My boyfriend and I end up arguing and breaking up. He says that I begin to "hammer him" over some little unimportant thing that's bothering me. He says he can almost see it coming a day or so in advance. He feels that it's my narcolepsy and that I need to take Paxil or some other anti-anxiety medication.
I will be discussing this with my specialist on January 10th. I'm not thrilled about having to take yet another medication (especially one that may cause sleepiness), however; I don't want to act like that. It happens without me realizing it until it's too late - usually several days later once my boyfriend begins speaking to me again and we discuss it. In the interim I'm distraut over what's happened and I feel terribly guilty. I feel like a rotten person who has no self-control and who is impossible to get along with. My boyfriend is ready to give up on me. He's tired of it and I am too!!!
I have tried very hard to keep this from happening but to no avail.
I would like to know if this has happened to any of you and if so, how did/do you deal with it?
Also, I would welcome any information from those of you who take Paxil or other anti-anxiety medications.
