When the docs perform a lumbar puncture on narcoleptics, I believe that they're looking for the genes HLA-1 and HLA-2. Supposivly there is an absence of one (or both of these) genes in Narcoleptics....
You'll have to forgive me, that my memory is slightly foggy on this topic (as I'm off my meds for my upcoming MSLT)......try searching the forums as well :)
