Hi, I take xanax for anxiety as well as prozac. My mental health doctor wants me to cut back on the xanax, because since my N diagnosis he feels the xanax won't help me that much because of the other meds (provigil, ritalin), however, I've cut back on it and notice I'm much more anxious. I think when the stimulant meds wear off, you will be more anxious. I believe this gets better in time, but it hasn't changed much for me. Sometimes I have trouble sleeping if I can't take a xanax. From what I can tell, narcoleptics often have a difficult time sleeping (tossing and turning, and can have insomnia before bed - figure that one out). To answer your question, anti-anxiety meds help me alot. Good luck!
