Hi there! Reading your posts, and I definitely think you should see a sleep MD. You can ask the office over the phone about their policies on insurances, etc. Or call yours, and see where they'd prefer you go. I have BC/BS, and had 2 sleep studies in a year, and they paid all but about $300 total, which is a small price to pay for feeling better. HH's are not what they consider normal to have frequently. I have HH's- mostly not scary, but vivid. Even had a dream the night of my mother's wake- she died suddenly at age 48- brain aneurysm- that she said goodbye. I thought I was dreaming, woke up upset, and then fell back asleep to finish my conversation with my mother in the same dream. It was really cool, in fact, and I treasure that night, even if they say it was an HH- it was not scary, it was comforting. Also, I have never fallen asleep out of the blue, so don't let that stop you from getting checked out. Start off the new year right- look into the whole sleep thing, because it's worth the hassle to feel better- that's why we're all doing this, right? I don't care what they call it- just fix it! We ALL thought we were crazy at first- I even had my attending MD, who I had had for about 8 years tell me that he didn't believe in N, and he even told me that my sleep study was normal when it wasn't! Tried to pump me up with Prozac, which can interfere with your REM on a sleep study. I didn't let that interfere with me going to someone else, who is beyond supportive. What have you got to lose? And, it sounds like you've got a real gem of a husband- he wants you to feel better. Go for it!
