It sounds like they aren't supportive to say the least. Sounds like members of your family and mine should start a support group for the criminally insensitive.
That being said, I don't think that the e-mail will help. They probably feel attacked (this is what I've been told after venting my feelings).
The only things I can suggest is maybe 1) asking your doc to sit down with your mom to explain things or 2) at least providing her with some written info on your disorders that she can read at her own convenience. In addition, lean on someone else (outside of these afore mentioned people).
Right now, and for whatever reason, it seems that certain people in your life cannot provide you with the support and respectful interaction that everyone deserves. Maybe the cannot have a more than superficial relationship with you until they get their own issues about your health cleared up.
Getting into it with these people may aggravate the situation... every time it happened to me I felt mre isolated.
Did you say you have a councilor? I have one. they can be great (they can ground you and give you perspective on yourself and others). Bounce some ideas off of him/ her about what to say or do. It is obvious that you want them in your life. But if it costs too much of your self esteem then take a breather and lick your wounds.
This page is here, and I believe a lot of us can relate.
Listen, you know you deserve respect. Otherwise, you wouldn't be so upset. Hang in there and take care of yourself.
