I hope that I am not horning in at the wrong time and place. This use of the computer is new to me. I have lived with narcolepsy since I was about 17. I tried college 1 quarter, failed math. I inlisted in the air force. I wanted to be a pilot. I passed all the tests but basic training was a rough time. Could not stay awake so I was let go. Came back to college, sat thru physics and when exam came I didn't recognize any of the quesions. Went to work doing what I did best and I have hung on for 40 years. Often I would wake up at my computer, see what was on the screen. It was scribble! Had to stand to eat lunch and drink coffee till my stomach couldn't handle any more. Wife saw coverage on tv and realized it was my problem. I used up the max dose that my dr. would prescribe. Now I am on Provigal at 400mg 3x daily.
I opened up to my company nurse and HR. Now, under the family leave act, I can reduce my work hours to 32, get naps in the nurses office. Even with the Provigal I get very foggy and cannot concentrate on my work. I get by, driving is kept to the minmum as I have lapses at the worst possible moments.
