TR, I think I know what you are talking about but that doesn't happen often to me. Yet, maybe does in different ways. Does it seem to you (or others out there) that you otherwise experience times when different parts are asleep but other parts are awake? Like in what you describe, maybe your body is going but you mind isn't awake yet.
I know that my degrees of tiredness also have different body parts that are "sleepy". Sometimes my mind is mush but my body feels like it could go out and run a mile. Sometimes it is the opposite and my body collapses but my mind is the one doing the mile. And most times w/ EDS, it is just my eyes that have the problem initially, like the feeling of using toothpicks to prop them open would work because my mind is still going okay. Eventually the EDS begins to affect my mind too and I begin to have the interjections of REM dreaming even though my body is still going, which then usually leads to a few brief moments when everything quits together.
