I'm not a pharmacist or doctor, but believe that the chemical compounds are exactly the same. The only difference is the "ritalin" brand name came first and at some point after the patent expired (or whatever rights the drug companies have for a certain number of years), other companies can then come in and sell the generic equivalent. The only difference is the name and the manufacturer. You should experience no difference taking this than if you were taking the ritalin brand. Jeanne
