It sounds like this guy is bringing you down, not vice versa. Resolve to get over this as quickly and as painlessly as possible. Please don't let this be a priority (don't repress either though, it still needs to be delt with). I've read a lot of your posts in the past and you're evidently a very strong person. I've found that men sometimes run away from problems that they can't fix. This is the last thing you need. I tend to think of all that has happened to me as character building. Everything that happens to us in life shapes who we are. You've been through a lot. You'll get through this, too. Remember you deserve to be with someone who deserves you.
I'm very sorry to hear about the death of your father. I lost my mom in "97 when I was 17. Most people find comfort in the belief in a higher power. I think about my mother often and find comfort in the memories.
I wish you the best of luck in everything.
