Last week my Dr. swithced me from Provigil (200 mg.once daily) to Adderall (20 mg. 3 times daily)and boy can I tell a difference! I haven't had the overwhelming urge for my noon nap like I did before. I started out on Ritalin, but it only took 45 minutes for my body to completely metabolize it, and I had constant nausea! Ugh!!! Then I went to Cylert, which had NO affect. Dr. G. told me the sleep center won't even prescribe it anymore. He also said that they have discovered that Provigil isn't very effective in people like me with full-blown N, but it works for mild cases of N, and also chronic fatigue!
He also has me taking my Zoloft 2 hours before bedtime (I was taking it right before I went to bed), and the 2 hours gives it time to get into the system. I haven't had any sleep paralysis at all, and I have been waking up before the alarm, feeling rested! The best part of all though, is that I wake up pain-free, my fibromyalgia is totally subdued! For people that are new to Narcolepsy, Fibromyalgia is very common for people with sleep disorders, because of not being in "deep" sleep long enough for the muscles to relax and repair.
