it's a series of nap opportunities, where they'll measure you transition into REM sleep. Two or more SOREMPs (REM stage sleep within 5-8 minutes of falling asleep) is the criteria. The average person will take approximately 90 minutes after falling asleep to go into REM stage sleep.
