I'm not too sure either about the point the article is making (though this is just the abstract).

I think that what these docs are saying is that they are examining the dopaminergic system, as they believe that Provigil (modanfil) and other stimulants work through this system.

They also seem to be presenting a theory, that ones response to Provigil is reflective of their genotype for COMT....
