I can usually fend off sleepiness with caffeine until just after lunch time. I normally take 400 mg of Provigil (all at once) shortly after lunch. The smaller 200 mg dosage was effective for only a week for me. I asked the doctor if I could increase the dosage and, since he knew I would not abuse the medicine, he said I should take as much as I need. So, I began taking 300 mg, and then 400 mg. The effects have stabilized and I don't anticipate needing a higher dosage in the future. Really, 300 mg usually works pretty well also. One thing I found is that a combination of eating smaller meal portions, drinking plenty of water, and exercising magnify the effects of Provigil. It has been extremely effective for me, and I truly feel like I am living a better life. Thank God for Provigil! Of course, Provigil is expensive, but my insurance covers all but $5 for each refill (60 pills). That may be an issue for some people.
