Provigil Dosage

Hi,
I am currently taking 200mg of Provigil a day. It is enough to keep me awake, but not enough to keep me out of a fog, where all I want to do is just sit and stare. What does work is 400mg of Provigil, or three pills. It keeps me totally awake and alert. My doctor told me that he cannot prescibe 400mgs, because it has proven not to be any more effective at a higher dosage, and suggested that maybe I want to try Ritalin. I like the provigil, and I was wondering if anyone out there has been prescribed more than 200mgs, or anyone who could tell me how ritalin seems to work. Thanks!
