Hi,
I am an N "newbie", and my first RX was 200 mg of Provigil daily. I, too, had the same problem of wanting to do nothing but sit and stare. My doctor increased it to 400 mg. For me, this was worse than having to sleep every couple of hours and was ready to give up on the idea that meds would help me long-term. I talked with my doctor, and he suggested switching to Ritalin. I was very reluctant because I have other conditions that this drug might aggrevate, and I was afraid I would have worse side effects than those experienced while on Provigil. Out of desparation, I gave into the idea of Ritalin-SR. For me, it was wonderful!!! We are still working on adjusting the dosage to get me through a 12 hr day, but so far it has really helped. I am very glad I gave it a chance. It is nothing like being on Provigil, thankfully. Work with your doctor, and be willing to give his/her suggestions a fair chance. Don't be afraid to ask questions of your doctor, and be honest with them about any side effects. I read these posts and learn from others experiences, but it is always important to give things a try for yourself. Remember, we all have different issues, and what works well for one person may not be the thing that works for us. Good luck! And don't give up! :)
