N and college don't mix, help?

Posted by bre34nt on August 09, 2002 at 16:03:45:

I am currently in college taking a summer class. I was taking two but had to drop one. The classes I take are not easy and this makes it all the more hard or now what seems impossible. I know by looking at old test and such that I am learning the material and understanding it as well as my fellow students, but there is one difference, I can't concentrate or focus at all. This is not all the time, but most of the time. Enough to effect my grade efficiently enough to soon have me kicked out of school. I feel robbed, because I don't deserve the grades I recieve. I study all the time (mandatory) so that I AM prepared. But as random as it is I won't know if I will be awake enough during the test (usually not). I feel completely helpless because no matter how much I study or prepare myself when the test comes I make the most stupid mistakes due to my lack in concentration. I can't see anything I can do but fail. Please, if anyone has been through this and love to hear their experience and what they did to get help or around it; or anyone that is currently going through this please respond. A little info: i was diagnosed half a year ago (age 23), currently on 500 mg of provigil (doesn't work that well), registered with the disabilities center for twice the time on test.
